    Choosing Which Club To Use

As you progress each shot down the fairway, the distance between your ball and the flagstick becomes shorter and shorter. This means that your goal is to hit the ball as far as possible from the tee shot. Then on all subsequent shots you will need to adjust your swing for accuracy and precision, not distance.

This requires that you utilize different clubs for different shots. The club faces are made from either metal or wood. Different materials on a golf club will have different effects on how far the ball will travel, and how high it will go.

    Choosing An Iron or Wood

Generally speaking, the higher the number on the club, such as a 9-iron for example, the higher the ball will go into the air, but with much less distance than a lower-numbered club, such as a 3-iron.

If you are new to golf and are a little confused about these numbers and what clubs to use, don't worry, in time you will have a specific feel for each and every one of your 14 clubs when playing on the golf course.

Dressing For The Golf Game - 2

    By Foursome | September 22, 2008

Always dress for success when playing the course. For new golfers this may sound strange, as you probably only have heard this advice when getting ready for a job interview or when working at the office, but golf has a special sense of class that goes along with the game.

As you know, the basic attire that is recommended for the course is a nice polo shirt or golf shirt, solid color pants (navy or khaki), a solid color belt, and polished golf shoes. For women, these same dress rules also apply accept for the pants; as females have the additional option of wearing a professional looking skirt or knee-length shorts.

    Safe Fashion Choices

Although these clothes are boring, and may not show your personality, they are definitely a safe choice as far as the status-quo fashion among the golf crowd. When you get comfortable with whatever dress code is in effect for the course you are playing at then feel free to branch out a bit and use you imagination.

Just like how you put together your personal wardrobe. you can also add flair to your golf wardrobe to express your personality. On the other hand, you can dress like I do: plain black and white. I’m not interested in showing everyone my inner character – I’m just there to play golf!Never Sacrifice Your Game

It is important to follow the rules of the dress code on the course you play at but it is equally important to never sacrifice your game by wearing uncomfortable golf clothes. A good golf swing can only be made when you have the freedom to move in the back, waist, and upper arms. If your clothes are too tight then your swing is restricted.

Golf is also a game of moving around, bending over, checking the putt lines, raking sand traps, picking up the ball, etc. and there is nothing more embarrassing than ripping the backside of your pants in the middle of the game. It is impossible to hide that huge rip in your pants when you are out in the middle of the course during a competitive round with your group. So please, spare yourself of this experience and keep comfort in mind when shopping for your golf clothes.

    Cotton Is Best

Last Christmas my wife bought me a gorgeous set of golf clothes – matching pants and a sleek, fancy shirt. There was only one problem: they were made out of silk. But silk is a fine quality fabric, right? Yes it is, and my wife’s heart was in the right place but silk is not the ideal material to be out there in the hot sun, shooting 18 holes in the middle of the summer.

Always go with cotton when shopping for your golf clothes. Quality cotton pants and shirt is the best choice because it is light and allows you to breathe easier. You will perspire less and cotton is very easy to clean.
