    3 Basic Basic Tips

Like any other sport, golf has basic rules that should always be adhered to, even if you are not a competitive player and just like to hit a few rounds on the course in your leisure time. It makes the game fair, challenging, and respectful to the other players you are with.

    Here are three such rules:

    1. Do not cheat by switching balls during a hole. The rules state that you must play with the same ball from the tee off to the final putt. Wherever the ball lands on each shot, that is where you play it from.

    2. Always carry a scorecard with you. It is not absolutely necessary, especially if you do not plan on keeping score, but even if not, having a scorecard is a great way to track your progress.

    3. The best way to progress in golf and improve your short game is to compare older scorecards with your current game. In other words, if you just hit the course yesterday, and today bring along that scorecard. You now have an opportunity to look at every shot made an improve on mistakes.

Course Management: Tips To Help You Take Your Golf Game More Seriously

    By Foursome | April 28, 2009

Course management is the skill of thinking your way around the golf course and in the most effective manner possible. The world’s best players, in addition to possessing excellent technique, are also top level tacticians, mastering highly effective strategies and squeezing every last drop of potential out of a round by playing to their strengths.

The following tips will help you not only help with your personal course management on the golf course, but can knock several strokes off your handicap literally overnight.

Arrive To The Golf Course Relaxed By Driving Slowly

Ideally you should arrive at the golf course in a total and complete relaxed state of mind. Take some time before leaving the house by getting up early so that you can leave early.

A leisurely drive to the course can do more wonders for your game than most golfers realize. Without this extra time, a calm drive can easily turn into a frustrated and anxious experience with just a little bit of traffic.

Many of the world’s top golfers have made comments that they even have a routine that keeps them positive before heading out to the golf course – soft music, sitting in silence before driving, and leaving early – even before practice sessions.

In addition, this habit of getting up early and driving calm and relaxed to the course will also get you there early. Always strive to arrive at the course at least 30 minutes before tee time so that you have time to check in at the pro shop, get changed, and warm up thoroughly so that the first tee is hit in a relaxed manner.Develop & Stick To A Pre-round Routine

To maximize the effectiveness of your time before you tee off, develop a preround routine, whereby you check in, get changed, and then go through the same warm-up and practice routine each time. The consistency in preparation will increase your confidence.

    Organize Your Golf Bag

Be sure to check your bag and make sure that you have everything you need to play the opening hole before you even walk to the first tee. You will need a golf ball, tees, scorecard, pencil, glove, and pitch-mark repairer – so have these items readily at hand. You don’t need to waste time and nervous energy rummaging around in your bag when you should be focusing on the tee shot.
